Hack[ware] v0.45

It has been about 2 - 3 weeks since I uploaded v0.44 which had around 30 downloads. I got some great feedback in particular from a couple of guys that made youtube videos of them playing the game. So thanks to Nodev Crab and Natsu Dev for that. Watching people play helps so much just because you can see how they follow things and how they struggle in sections. Also thanks to joshua for playing the game another time around and finding some unique bugs.

BUGS

  • Fixed backspace audio crash
  • Fixed downloaded config.sys errors with "rename" and "mv" commands
  • Fixed being able to download files from my computer
  • Fixed an edge case of being able to add /* to the end of a directory/file name and have it validated
  • Fixed auto complete not listing tab directory options outside of current directory

  • Added command "shortcuts" listing all keyboard short cuts available in game
  • Added new mission 1 to help new players a bit more with the basics

FUTURE PLANS

Overall I think the game is in a good spot as a prototype in that most main features are there and working. The main things I want to create now are a few additional commands / hacking methods. To give the player some variety. This is hard because I want these methods to be somewhat grounded in reality and not the usual mini-game puzzles you may see in other games.

Accessibility is also important and has been something I have avoided. This is due to how the game uses so much ASCII art. I am unsure of how different the quality will be if the characters are scaled up.

Again thank you to anyone that has shown interest, downloaded the game, contacted me or otherwise shown support. Have fun.
